(c) 2000 Cusworth and Dodds

Historical background to St. Peter’s Church, Headley.

St. Peter’s was designed by Edwin Dolby in a contemporary Victorian Gothic style and completed in 1868. The church was built from bricks nearby brickworks in Ashford Hill Road, and some bricks in the porch and west wall bear the footprints of cats who walked over the wet clay blanks before the bricks were fired. Prince Charles worshipped here during his time at nearby Cheam School.
