St Mary’s today is home to a regular worshipping community as well as a number of visitors. Please see the services page for details of services.
It has access for wheelchair users and there is a hearing loop.
St Mary’s Church is a very impressive church of Norman appearance located at the heart of the village. Its attribution of Cathedral of the Downs gives an indication of its imposing appearance and size.
The church is open daily, usually from 9am to 4pm, and sometimes outside these times as well. We welcome visitors and those seeking a place to be quiet and to pray. If by any chance you do find the church locked you should enquire at the Butcher’s shop in Swan Street opposite the church, which keeps a key.
The church looks splendid floodlit at night. At present this can happen when sponsored by individuals or groups for a charge of £10 per night. Forms for applying to sponsor the lights are available on the bookstall at the back of the church.
